The Volkswagen T-Roc was first showcased at the Geneva Motor Show in 2014 and after that we saw its leaked pictures a couple of times giving us a rough idea how the compact crossover will look like. However, recently the T-Roc has been caught completely undisguised testing somewhere in Europe, which implies the launch is imminent.
The Volkswagen T-Roc will ride on the MQB platform and will slot under the Tiguan. The design looks somewhat different to what was displayed in the concept model, nevertheless it retains a wide rear stance and a bold front fascia.
In Europe, the Volkswagen T-Roc will be available in a range of engine options including a 1.0L three-cylinder engine with 115 horsepower and a 1.5L four-cylinder unit. Some reports suggest, a 2.0L turbo engine borrowed from the Golf GTI as well as electric and plug-in hybrid powertrains will be offered too. The engines will be paired to a six-speed manual or a seven-speed DSG transmission.
Once launched, the T-Roc will compete against the likes of Honda HR-V and Mazda CX-3. It is expected to launch in September at the Frankfurt Motor Show. We currently don’t know when it will arrive here in the UAE, as we did not hear anything from Volkswagen yet.
