Built on the two-row Grand Cherokee, the 4xe plug-in hybrid SUV seems to be the most expensive in the range. The initial cost is $59,495 and that goes as high as $76,095 for the flagship Summit Reserve, making it around $9980 more expensive than the standard Grand Cherokee.
All variants in the Grand Cherokee 4xe lineup carry the same powertrain including a turbocharged 2.0-litre inline-four petrol mill, assisted by two electric motors. The joint output of the setup is 375 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque with an electric driving range of 25 miles.
Comparing the power output with the regular Grand Cherokee, the plug-in hybrid beats the base 3.6-litre V-6’s 293 horsepower as well as the 357-hp 5.7-litre V-8. Of course, the hybrid is weightier than the non-hybrid due it battery and electric motors.
Notably, the 4xe has largely the same variants as we find for the standard Grand Cherokee. The base model is almost the same as the Limited 4×4. Buyers can also have the off-road-focused Trailhawk variant ($64,280) and the posher Overland ($67,555), Summit ($71,515), and Summit Reserve ($76,095).
The 2022 Grand Cherokee is available at dealerships in America right now. However, the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe Hybrid will not arrive until spring.
