Kia has been teasing its new compact SUV for quite some time but never revealed anything substantial until now. They have released a picture of the rear gate showing its name, Kia Seltos.
There is good long thinking behind choosing this name. Kia revealed that the name takes its inspiration from Greek mythology, particularly from Celtos – the son of Hercules. The question is why Kia did not name the SUV, Celtos. Kia wanted ‘S’ in the name to donate sportiness and speed. In their official disclosure, Kia emphasized on buzzwords starting from ‘S’ to show the true potential of this SUV.
Although the automaker did not make public anything else about the Kia Seltos, we can deduce some details from the previous teaser images. The interior of the Seltos features a big 10.25-inch touchscreen display. The automaker is equipping it with Adaptive cruise control and lots of other safety and driver-assist systems. On the outside, we see Kia’s tiger grille and slim headlamps, which hints at its sportiness.
Kia is targeting Millennials and “youthful, tech-savvy buyers” with Seltos. They want to give them a vehicle that makes them stand out in the crowd. The compact SUV segment is very competitive and Kia has to bring its A-game if they want to succeed in this market segment.
Kia already offers some good SUVs to the GCC markets. The Seltos will be a welcoming addition.
That’s all we know so far. Stay tuned as we bring you full details of this upcoming SUV by the end of this month.
