Honda and GAC have partnered to launch a new electric car brand by the name Everus in China. The Everus EV concept, revealed yesterday at the 2018 Beijing Auto Show, will be their first vehicle. The production version of the Everus EV concept will start rolling out of factories by the end of this year.
The Honda’s influence is evident in the rear fascia, where it clearly looks like the Honda HR-V crossover, however, the front-end is distinctive. The sporty and slightly angular shape of the vehicle would attract youngsters.
Through Everus, Honda hopes to increase their popularity in the Chinese market. The Everus EV will be part of the car-sharing company Reachstar. Not only in China, Honda is stretching its legs to major markets like the U.S where it introduced Clarity Electric. In Europe, the production version of the Urban EV concept is hoped to be released by next year.
Honda is slowly shifting toward electrification thanks to its 2030 Vision Strategy announced last June. Honda hopes to have two-thirds of its lineup to consist of hybrids and EVs by 2030. Although major focus is toward hybrids, gasoline-based cars will not entirely be ignored.
