Ford and Lincoln are advancing in the electrification game, as the parent company Ford plans to introduce two small electric SUVs. One vehicle will be similar in size to the ongoing Forde Edge while the other will be likely of the same size as the Lincoln Nautilus, reported Automotive News. Both vehicles will probably arrive in 2023.
While Ford and Lincoln did not reveal the names of the new electric SUVs, they are using CDX746 and CDX747 monikers for these temporarily. Both the vehicles will reportedly be produced at the Ford’s Flat Rock Assembly Plant, which the automaker dedicated to produce only electric and autonomous vehicles. Ford plans to create a whopping number of these vehicles, so they definitely needed a facility like Flat Rock to accommodate the high production volume.
If you are mixing the new Ford’s SUV with the Mustang-based electric utility vehicle, you are totally wrong. That is slated to hit the roads in a two-year time. Ford is also producing electric vehicles with Rivian, so we should not confuse new electric offerings with those too. We also know Ford is developing an electric F-150. With the new plant to take on the electric production duty, we might not see the Lincoln Continental again. Automotive News revealed, the Continental will bid farewell in 2021. However, it may continue production in China.
