Last May, the latest iteration of Lexus RX made its entrance, with the Japanese automaker unveiling information about the SUV’s powertrains, covering three out of four. Moving into the 2024 version, the opulent vehicle embraces a plug-in hybrid propulsion system, marking the RX’s second option in terms of potent engines.

The RX 450h+ employs a PHEV system akin to the plug-in hybrid NX. This signifies the presence of a 2.5-litre inline-four-cylinder gasoline engine beneath the car’s exterior. This power unit is bolstered by dual electric motors and a lithium-ion battery pack. The outcome of this combination is a maximum of 304 horsepower (227 kilowatts), which empowers the luxury SUV to accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour in roughly 6.2 seconds. Capping the velocity is an electronic limit set at 124 mph (200 kph). Moreover, a solitary battery charge facilitates a 35-mile (56-kilometer) range in pure electric mode.

Lexus provides the hybrid SUV with a regular Level 1 charging cable designed for 120-volt outlets. The RX 450h+ can achieve a complete recharge in approximately two and a half hours utilizing a 6.6-kilowatt onboard charger and the highest charging capacity of 240 volts, given optimal circumstances. Additionally, all four wheels receive power from the plug-in hybrid powertrain, just as a point of interest.

The RX 450h+ is offered in a choice of eight exterior shades, including Eminent White Pearl, Cloudburst Gray, and Iridium; complemented by standard 21-inch 20-spoke wheels. Included in the standard package are interior luxuries like heated/ventilated power seats, ambient lighting, a panoramic glass roof, a heated steering wheel, and an advanced 21-speaker Mark Levinson audio system.

However, these customary attributes come at a cost. The 2024 RX 450h+ will be available for purchase in the United States later this year, and its price initiation stands at $70,080, encompassing destination fees. This places it at a notably higher price point in comparison to the 2023 RX 350h Luxury, which begins at $58,750.
