The Audi E-Tron crossover first hit the roads in 2019 and now the model is ready for its mid-cycle refresh. However, the refresh might not come with just cosmetic changes, instead, Audi has plans to update its electric powertrains as well, reports Autocar.
If correct, the upgrades are pretty noteworthy, particularly for a mid-cycle refresh. According to Autocar, both the E-Tron and E-Ton Sportback will get a new battery pack as well as new electric motors, making them more powerful with a better drive range. The electric cars will be able to cover 373 miles with the new powertrain. The ongoing models retain a 95-kilowatt-hour battery offering 249 miles of range in the UK – the EPA range is obviously lower.
The mechanical and cosmetic changes would be enough to stretch the E-Tron’s lifecycle through 2025 and hopefully further. Expect the 2022 Audi E-Tron before the end of next year. In 2022, we also expect to see the new Q6 E-Tron.
In America, the 2023 E-Tron will come with a higher range but do not anticipate it as close as Audi markets for Europe. The EPA estimates are more rigorous; however, we can expect the range to go beyond 222 miles.
