The Japanese automaker has introduced the redesigned 2022 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross featuring loads of upgrades for just $400 price hike. Besides dumping the tow-window rear hatchback styling, the automaker also made a number of enhancements inside.
The LE, SE, and SEL trim levels now get a new 8.0-inch infotainment system along with a modified center console. Also, customers can have the SEL with light-gray leather upholstery and a power-adjustable passenger seat.
The 2022 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross now offers more space for cargo, although the wheelbase hasn’t increased. The total cargo capacity is now 50.1 cubic feet, which is 1.2 cubic feet more than the previous model.
The standard driver-assistance facilities include forward-collision warning, automated emergency braking, pedestrian detection, and lane-departure warning. More high-tech features like automatic high-beam headlamps are optional.
Although the automaker retuned the shocks and springs, they didn’t change the powertrain. The power comes from the old turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine that mates to a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). The front-wheel-drive is standard while the all-wheel-drive is.
The 2022 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross starts at $24,590, which is around $2,000 less expensive than its rivals like the Honda CR-V, VW Tiguan, and Mazda CX-5. The LE and SE trims will cost $25,940 and $27,340, respectively.
Additionally, the range-topping SEL is priced at $28,590. There is also a $2,100 Touring package encompassing facilities like heated rear seats, the panoramic sunroof, a head-up display, adaptive cruise control, and an eight-speaker stereo system, and many other systems.
The 2022 Eclipse Cross should be here in the UAE by summer. The U.S. deliveries will start in spring.
