2022 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing Breaks Cover With 668HP Mill, Standard Manual

Cadillac has been promoting their upcoming performance sedans for quite some time, and now they have revealed the smaller CT4-V Blackwing and more potent 2022 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing. Covering the hotter CT5-V in this piece of content, we like to start with the mill, which the sedan borrowed from the CTS-V.

The 2022 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing comes equipped with a supercharged 6.2-liter V8, heavily updated by the engineers. The upgraded mill generates an enormous 668 horsepower (498 kW) and 659 pound-feet (893 newton-meters). It enables the sedan to accelerate from zero to 60 mph (96 km/h) in 3.7 seconds. Cadillac limits the top speed to 200 miles per hour (322 kilometers per hour). The engine sends power to the rear wheels.

What makes this CT5-V Blackwing so powerful is a bigger supercharger, fresh pulleys, aluminum cylinder heads, titanium intake valves, and 46% improved airflow. Furthermore, speed enthusiasts can use Tremec six-speed manual transmission, which comes standard on both the CT5-V Blackwing and the CT4-V Blackwing.

A 10-speed automatic is perhaps better than the manual. The company says the elective auto transmission is better than its opponents’ dual-clutch transmissions. Outstandingly, the 3.7-second sprint to 96 km/h is with automatic. The manual is a little sluggish among the two.

The 2022 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing boasts GM’s fourth-generation Magnetic Ride Control system, offering better handling both on track and highways, as well.

To make your daily drives comfortable, Cadillac requested Michelin to develop special tires. The outcome is Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires, measuring at 275/35R19 in the front and 305/30R19 in the rear.

Cadillac made small changes in the exterior design such as a marginally updated front bumper with bigger air intakes and black accents, some carbon fiber aero pieces for added downforce, and a blacked-out grille. We can also see carbon fiber on the center console, steering wheel, and door panels.

In the technology front, the 2022 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing offers a 12.0-inch digital instrument cluster showing tire pressure, G forces, and boost, plus three drive modes – Tour, Sport, and Track.

The 2022 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing will at least cost you $84,990. While not confirmed, but the performance sedan may also offer Super Cruise. There will be two trim-specific paints at launch, Blaze Orange Metallic and Electric Blue. You can book the new CT5-V for a $1,000 deposit.
